Training Band

The name 'TRAINING BAND' has been chosen quite specifically.

Normally a band will have a Junior Band, but Avonbank wish to give an opportunity to anyone regardless of their age to learn to play a brass instrument.

If you used to play a brass instrument....... gave up years ago...... fancy playing again but don't feel confident about going straight into the senior band? Then please get in touch.

If you have never blown a brass instrument in your life, but always wanted to try then you will be made very welcome. Perhaps your child has mentioned that they would like to start playing, then get in touch or just come along on a Wednesday night.

The Training Band has a supply of instruments waiting for you, just come along to the band room on a Wednesday night from 7pm.

The Musical Director Gordon Lane will be on hand to talk to you about what instrument you would like to play. His son and Principal Cornet of the senior band, Stephen Lane, ably assists Gordon in training the band. Between them they have years of playing brass experience and teaching, a beginner could have no better start than to be steered by these two gentlemen.

Recently Gordon was awarded a certificate by the chairman of the British Federation of Brass Bands for 'OVER' 50 years of service to the Avonbank Evesham Brass band. Not only as a player, but as a teacher and mentor to countless players that have benefited from his teaching and experience over the years.

Gordon can be contacted on 01386- 40514
